Tech chain Wow Bao launched the first phase of a move into the metaverse on Wednesday.

The Chicago-based fast-casual Asian concept is expanding its Bao Bucks rewards program to add an NFT-based access pass, which will be available in early 2023, though fans can join the waitlist now. NFT holders will have access to a club where they can earn virtual food rewards, as well as participate in monthly giveaways and exclusive discounts.

Geoff Alexander, president and CEO of Wow Bao, said that the idea is to offer a line of digital collectibles, which in this case are small bao characters with different characteristics, that have multiple benefits. There will be three levels, with more benefits available at the highest level.
