There are more and more signs that the metaverse is happening, with the promise of much more to come. Businesses, however, have work to do before they can take full advantage of this new iteration of the Internet. The metaverse will require massive computing power and, as a result, a proliferation of data centers. Data centers as we know them today are not equipped to handle this level of computing power to deliver the full range of experiences anticipated by the metaverse, not to mention enough network engineers, designers, and administrators to keep it running.
