Sometime in the last year or two, you’ve probably heard the word “metaverse.” It’s the future, the next great frontier of the Internet, if you ask CEOs or tech researchers.

While the term has become the latest buzzword in educational circles, what it means for teaching and learning remains to be seen. Experts say that much of what we see marketed as the metaverse of edtech companies isn’t actually the metaverse.
