The metaverse, or more accurately, the ever-evolving Horizon Worlds platform, is not meant to accurately reflect the outside world.

Comprised of many of the long-term core user creators who update Meta-backed worlds every day, Horizon’s creator community specifically focuses diverse voices and prioritizes collaboration. The group defines diversity as “embracing what is different, displaced and apart, and leaving room to be surprised and grow”.

The goal of the community is to build a place where no one doesn’t belong, because Worlds attracts people who in many cases feel like they don’t belong in other spaces. They may feel this way because of racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, religious or cultural marginalization, or the broad spectrum of ableism…
