Retail giant Walmart is ready to make its foray into the world of the metaverse. It is scheduled to launch two “immersive” experiences on Roblox, an online gaming platform, Bloomberg reported. While Walmart Land features fashion, beauty, and entertainment, Universe of Play will have toys.
With its metaverse movement, the company has joined giants like Nike and VF Corp in capturing shoppers’ attention through virtual universes. According to the report, Roblox already has a community of over Rs 5.2 crore of daily users, several of them young.
Walmart’s chief marketing officer, William White, told Bloomberg that it’s the company’s first big initiative in the metaverse. He called it another step for the retailer to reach customers in unexpected ways.
