Over the past two years, fashion brands have unleashed a steady trickle of metaverse experiments and experiences. Virtual fashion shows helped brands big and small gain attention early in the pandemic, with operators of virtual worlds like Fortnite, Roblox and Minecraft announcing collaboration after collaboration. Brands have appointed executives to spearhead metaverse strategy.

Fashion hasn’t abandoned its VR obsession: Tommy Hilfiger’s September fashion show had a metaverse component, and Burberry is releasing a Minecraft world in November.
