Any new technology involves a certain amount of ambiguity and myth. However, in the case of the Metaverse, many of the myths have been exaggerated and the facts twisted, while the vision of the Metaverse will take years to fully mature, the building blocks to begin this process are already in place. Key hardware and software are available today or under development; and stakeholders should definitely address security, safety, and privacy (SSP) concerns and collaborate to implement open standards that will make the Metaverse secure, trustworthy, and interoperable, and enable the delivery of safe and secure services in the best possible way.
