Telefónica, the largest telecommunications company in Spain, now accepts payments in cryptocurrencies for the purchase of devices or products in its technology market.

The crypto payment feature is provided by Bit2Me, a Spanish cryptocurrency exchange with a vested interest in e-commerce solutions. Telefonica’s partnership with Bit2Me to bring crypto payments to their market was initially revealed when Bit2Me took to their Twitter and said:

“Telefónica chooses Bit2Me Commerce to accept crypto payments at tu.com🤝 @Telefonica enables cryptographic payment for the purchase of devices for the first time, and it does so with the help of Bit2Me Commerce, the payment gateway for companies🚀”

The crypto payment method is now available on the Tu.com platform. Customers can now purchase any product or device using a wide range of digital currencies hosted on Bit2Me.

In addition to the association, he was also reported that Telefónica has also invested in the Spanish exchange company, Bit2Me. More details about the investment are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Telefónica’s dominance in the Web3 world is showcased with its NFT marketplace, which users can explore and purchase any NFT of their choice. This market is active on the polygon network and is integrated with the cryptocurrency wallet, metamask. Also, like most companies in the industry they are making their way into the Metaverse and trying to establish their footing with the developing technology. Telefónica does not seem to miss anything either.

The Telecom company recently collaborated with Qualcomm, an American multinational corporation that creates semiconductors, softwareand services related to wireless technology. This association is billed to help advance the development of the company’s metaverse unit.

“Telefónica sees many possibilities in combining immersive devices with powerful networks and decentralized Web3 technologies”. Telefónica said in the announcement of the collaboration with Qualcomm: “This agreement opens the opportunity to offer new experiences to customers by merging the digital and analog worlds, reinventing commerce, entertainment and communication in the Metaverse.”
