Sony, the Japanese consumer electronics giant, introduced Mocopi, the new-age motion tracking wearable series, in Tokyo. It is a lightweight and portable motion capture system that can be used to control a digital avatar in real time within metaverse apps like VR Chat. This technology records the movement of the whole body using small and light equipment. In an official statement, Sony said, “We will introduce the Mocopi kits and release them to users in January 2023 at an affordable price of 49,500 yen ($360)… Also, starting December 15 (Thursday), we plan to offer a software development kit (SDK) that can link the acquired motion data to Metaverse services and 3D development software.”The new system consists of six colorful sensors…
