Earlier this year, Samsung introduced its flagship PCIe 4.0-based SSD called the Samsung 990 PRO SSD Series. The Samsung 990 PRO SSD is available in 1TB and 2TB variants. Like its predecessor, the 980 PRO SSD (currently available at a deep discount), the latest model is available with and without a heatsink. An integrated radiator provides additional cooling for heavy-duty tasks to improve performance and reduce the chances of thermal throttling.

Samsung claims that the SSD 990 PRO has reached the theoretical limit of the PCIe 4.0 interface. It can operate at speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s read and 6,900 MB/s write. In addition to offering new memory chips and better performance, the SSD 990 PRO is 50% more power efficient than its predecessor and better at thermal management. And don’t forget about RGB: the heat sink variant also features RGB lights.
