The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) is donning its virtual reality headsets as it prepares to crack down on a growing list of “potential crimes” in the Metaverse.
According to an October 20 announcement, Interpol launched the “first Metaverse designed specifically for law enforcement worldwide,” unveiling it at the 90th Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi, now fully operational.
Interpol highlighted that a key factor behind its leap into the metaverse is because bad actors are already harnessing the technology to commit crimes, while public adoption rates are likely to increase significantly in the coming years.
