Presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he will safeguard the public’s freedom to own and transact with Bitcoin (BTC) once he secures the nation’s highest electoral seat.
In a new tweet, the challenger of incumbent President Joe Biden in the next election reiterates his statement from the 2023 Bitcoin Conference in Miami in May, where he announced his plan to reverse the government’s hostility toward crypto.
According to Kennedy, Bitcoin is a bulwark against government and corporate intrusion, and people should be able to own their private keys the same way they own the keys to their car or wallet.
“As president, I will make sure that your right to use and hold Bitcoin is inviolable. Bitcoin is not only a bulwark against totalitarianism and the manipulation of our money supply, it points the way toward a future in which government institutions are more transparent and more democratic.”
Despite his stance on Bitcoin, the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy opposes the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). In an interview with the New York Post, he says the digital dollar will undoubtedly get abused
“I oppose central bank digital currencies because they are instruments of control and oppression, and are certain to be abused.”
