The company throws its hat into a circle full of companies selling alternative root domain names.
Pool.com, a longtime player in the domain capture business, has a new business model.
The business has been relaunched as a web3 domain name business. It seems to work a bit like Handshake in that it allows people to register top level domains and sell second level domains below them.
According to the site:
Pool.com offers you access to purchase your own unique top level domain on Web3. It also offers the ability to mint and distribute second level domains and allows you to sell second level domains to others. Have a great idea for a top-level domain like .running that you want to sell to the world? We let you do all of that easily.

The company is running a dawn period for trademark holders to register their marks as a “Pool Infinity Domain”. He has destined some domains for the dawn. If the brand owner does not claim them by March 10, they will be available to the general public.
Pool.com charges $25,000 to register a top-level domain for two years. It also charges a 30% commission for second level domains sold through the platform.
Second level domains in many extensions (including emojis) are available for $5.
Of course, one of the challenges here is name collisions, especially with handshake domains. Right now, I can register .startup in Pool Infinity Domains. Namecheap currently offers second level registrations under the same chain in Handshake.
