International money transfer service Xoom, owned and operated by financial technology company PayPal, has unveiled a new offering that allows customers in the United States to send money directly to Visa debit card users.

A recent statement made by PayPal indicated a partnership between Xoom and financial services company Visa. This partnership makes it possible for debit card customers to receive payments directly from Xoom.

There are now 25 countries that support the functionality, some of which include the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Users no longer have to wait the standard amount of time for bank transfers, which is five business days, as a recently introduced feature now allows them to access their money in a matter of minutes.

According to Wei-Lin Lee, PayPal’s vice president of remittances, the new service has the potential to help people through the winter and holidays. Lee noted that during those times, many customers were transferring money to their friends and family located in other countries, and that this process needed to be completed as quickly as possible.

Yanilsa Gonzalez-Ore, executive director of Visa Direct North America, noted that there has been an increase in demand for “digital solutions that help remove obstacles” among those who want to transfer money to other countries.
