Norway has entered the metaverse with the announcement of an Ethereum-based Decentraland tax office.
The country’s tax agency, Skatteetaten, along with its central registry Brønnøysund, revealed their metaverse ambitions at Nokios Seminar 2022. Both government agencies will partner with the big four accounting firms Ernst and Young (EY) to establish the virtual office.
In addition to the tax office, Brønnøysund, which manages Norway’s public records, is investigating other web3 products, including smart contracts, wallets, and DAOs, among others.
