The non-fungible token (NFT) and metaverse worlds are growing at a very rapid rate and this is currently showing through the trademarks being filed in the ecosystem.
According to To US Trademark Attorney Mike Kondoudis, applications related to Web3.0 and Metaverse trademarks for this year have already surpassed the total registered in 2021.
According to the data it published, in the first 8 months of this year, as many as 4,200 trademark applications were filed in the US for metaverse, virtual, and web 3 goods and services. In addition, NFT-specific trademarks have already surpassed to those of last year with crypto-hinged trademarks also reaching impressive numbers.
The metaverse might be considered a relatively new space, but a number of companies are betting big on the potential innovation they can introduce.
Many are actively jumping into the fray with trademark applications. If these trademarks are granted, the law will protect the unique innovation these companies are driving, a move that may provide a very unique competitive advantage for years to come.
Among the companies driving these metaverse-linked advancements is tech giant Meta Platforms Inc. The company changed its name from Facebook Inc last year as it seeks to shift its overall perspective from a predominantly social media team to one focused on the metaverse.
Meta Platforms’ adoption of the metaverse has shown just how much traditional or Web 2.0 businesses are moving along with technological advancements in the Web 3.0 space.
In addition to trademark filings, investors are also preparing for the future metaverse and Web 3.0 world through injections of cash into the protocol-building infrastructure in the space.
Among the platforms that are being financed It includes Magic Eden and Playful Studios, to name a few. With the stakes rising across the board, consumers and potential users only expect featured platforms to deliver on their promises.
