Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse is a big gamble by the tech giant to bring back declining user numbers, according to Professor Barney Tan of the University of New South Wales.

Tan, also director of the School of Information Systems and Technology Management, said Zuckerberg’s company Meta is proposing to develop a virtual world of “unprecedented sophistication and scale” that will attempt to bridge virtual and physical realities.

“Their prospects for success depend on how many ancillary service providers, co-developers, and users they can attract into their ecosystem because Meta can’t do everything on its own,” he told The Epoch Times in an email.
