NEW DELHI: Meta announced on Tuesday that it is supporting industry body FICCI with $1 million for the XR Open Source (XROS) scholarship program that will help 100 Indian developers working on XR (extended reality) technologies for the future of the metaverse.
Led by FICCI, the XROS program will provide developer scholarships that include stipend and mentorship.
The National Division of Electronic Government, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technologies (MeitY), will be the technical partner of the program.
“The metaverse will not be built by any one company. Through programs like XR Open Source, we will support Indian developers working on these exciting technologies,” said Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs.
