Many companies, including Meta itself, have placed big bets on the metaverse, while others expect NFTs to be huge. All of them can be wrong.

For a few years apparently everyone thought that 3D television was going to be the next big thing. The networks rushed to create 3D programming and while it all seemed great, it turned out that two dimensions were enough for most people and 3D TV all but disappeared.

It can make a next big argument for 3D printing, smart homes, voice assistants, and a few other things. All of those exist, but they are largely niche products. Now, Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook and CEO of what is now called Meta Platforms (
