Will Interpol become the new sheriff of the metaverse? One thing is certain: he does not want to be left behind.

The world police organization has just unveiled what it calls “the first metaverse designed specifically for law enforcement around the world.”

It says the move will help police forces around the world “interact with other officers through their avatars” and even take “immersive training courses in forensic investigation and other police skills.”

“The metaverse has the potential to transform every aspect of our daily lives with huge implications for law enforcement,” said Madan Oberoi, Interpol’s Executive Director of Technology and Innovation, in a statement.

“But for law enforcement to understand the metaverse, we need to experience it.”
