The number of devices in the ‘metaverse’ will double in the next two years.

According to the most recent forecast from Strategy Analytics, the installed base of VR and AR devices will grow from 50 million in 2022 to more than 100 million in 2024. By 2027, the company predicts that the number of metaverse devices in use will approach 250 millions.

David MacQueen, CEO of Strategy Analytics, said: “Increasing investment in this area, which offers compelling new experiences to consumers, will drive the adoption of dedicated devices for consumers to take advantage of new services. Reaching an installed base of 100 million by 2024 will be an important milestone for this relatively new category of consumer electronics, helping to drive further growth and investment.”
