Game developers are more skeptical of metaverse and blockchain projects, according to a new survey by the Game Developers Conference.
In a way, that was not a surprising result. The hype about the metaverse and the blockchain skyrocketed a couple of years ago, but skepticism rose a lot over the past year as the economy slowed and early projects failed to achieve sustainable results.
“There was a lot going on during 2022 with ups and downs, and I know cryptocurrency had a lot of problems in the middle of the year as well,” Alissa McAloon, editor at Gamedeveloper.com, said in an interview with GamesBeat.
