Game developers are more skeptical of metaverse and blockchain projects, according to a new survey by the Game Developers Conference. From a report: “There was a lot going on during 2022 with ups and downs, and I know cryptocurrency had a lot of problems in the middle of the year as well,” Alissa McAloon, editor at Gamedeveloper.com, said in an interview with GamesBeat. She noted that it’s not surprising to see the hype fade. In that sense, the skeptical view of the metaverse and the blockchain is not that different from the view of virtual reality, after the skepticism settled after a few years of hype. “A lot of developing technologies have ebbs and flows and then we see where things settle after the fact. VR is a good indicator of that,” McAloon said.
