The CFDA is bringing some of the biggest names in fashion to Web3. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the organization has partnered with metaverse platforms Brand New Vision and The Sandbox to transform the work of seven renowned American designers into NFT.

For example, owners of the Vivienne Tam token, which features motifs from the prolific NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club collective, will also receive a front row seat to Tam’s next show, plus behind-the-scenes access, meet-and-greet privileges and the opportunity to participate in the design process of the brand’s next collection.

Diane von Furstenberg (DVF) brings its timeless prints and silhouettes into the digital realm in the form of its iconic wrap dress, which celebrates the brand’s DNA of mixing bold prints and colours. The DVF token will start with an initial offering of $25,000.
Metaverse darling Tommy Hilfiger, who has made full use of the virtual space this year, will also be giving his NFT owners an all-expenses-paid tour of his next storefront, along with a selection of exclusive merchandise. Meanwhile, Coach will be giving away its token holders two tickets to a special Coach Holiday event at Rockefeller Center, plus a tour of the Coach archives and a Coach ReLoved bag (valued up to $650).
The Brand New Vision team was at the center of the collaboration. The platform appointed its leading 3D artists to work alongside the fashion houses, using Web3 technology along the way to bring to life the concepts imagined by the designers. The result? Each experimental NFT is their own cultivation of distinctive house codes and pioneering technology, bringing something completely unique to the fashion landscape.
The collaborative project will also house a digital metaverse exhibit, where guests can explore the CFDA’s archives and its long history in fashion. “Shaping the Shades of American Design” opens simultaneously in the sandboxfeaturing 60 looks from CFDA’s six decades, curated by fashion historian Darnell-Jamal Lisby.
The five-issue retrospective presents a series of works reimagined for the digital sphere; this includes Dapper Dan’s custom 1980 design for Hip-Hop icons Eric B & Rakim, as well as pieces from Thom Browne’s Spring 2020 collection and a quintessential grunge look by Marc Jacobs, taken from the Perry Ellis Spring showcase. 1993.
