In the coming weeks, Mark Zuckerberg will announce a new virtual reality headset from Meta Platforms Inc.

Shamefully, we already know how it will be. A video of the alleged device has been making the rounds online after someone found one in a hotel room. None of that should matter, though, because glitzy VR headsets are becoming a huge distraction and aren’t all that integral to the early growth of the so-called metaverse, a 3D version of the internet that many see as its next chapter. Turns out flat screens work just fine.
