The world’s FTXs may not have been secure, but they were easy to use. Within a few months of buying a car, for example, I lost the title and had to spend hours at the DMV pleading my case; maybe cryptocurrencies could help me “be my own bank”, but I have a feeling it would be a lousy bank.
