Derivatives exchange CME Group plans to launch real-time benchmark rates and indices for three metaverse crypto assets, allowing investors to track price data more reliably using a methodology commonly used in traditional finance.

Starting Jan. 30, CME Group and CF Benchmarks will release benchmark rates for Decentraland’s Axie Infinity Shards (AXS), Chiliz (CHZ) and MANA (MANA), the company announced Jan. 5. Benchmark rates and indices are not tradable products. but instead it can be used by investors to “value sector-specific portfolios, develop structured products […] and manage price risk around various Metaverse-based projects,” said Giovanni Vicioso, head of cryptocurrency products at CME Group.
