(Yicai Global) Dec. 30 — Many Chinese tourism companies and museum operators are partnering with technology firms to enhance the visitor experience with virtual tours across the metaverse.

The metaverse can attract more visitors to tourist spots and increase revenue by disseminating information in an informative and entertaining way, Shi Bosi, director of digital content firm Beijing Hetu United Innovation Technology, told Yicai Global.

More than 100 museums and travel agencies are working with technology firms to build metaverse spaces, Shi said. Several of these projects, developed by companies including Hetu United, Meta, Beijing Shiji Technology and Culture, as well as Alibaba Group Holding, are on display at the ongoing Tech G Shanghai 2022 International Consumer Electronics Exhibition.
