China’s first metaverse major was established at a university in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, hoping to train more talents according to the needs of companies in metaverse-related sectors.

The School of Artificial Intelligence (School of Future Technology) at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in Nanjing, Jiangsu, changed the name of its Department of Information Engineering to Department of Metaverse Engineering on Friday, becoming in the first university department named after the metaverse in China.
