The metaverse involves a shared environment that encompasses a multitude of 3D virtual worlds. Participants in the metaverse will be able to move freely through these virtual worlds, taking their identities, rights, and assets with them. At least that’s a vision of how a universe of 3D virtual worlds will work.

However, realizing this vision of an open and traversable metaverse will require interoperability across multiple capabilities.
