You’ve probably heard the term “metaverse” before. Although it became popular when Mark Zuckerberg announced the rebranding of Facebook to Meta, it is much more than that.

In fact, the term “metaverse” comes from a science fiction novel written by Neal Stephenson in 1992 titled snow shock. He described the metaverse as a kind of digital parallel universe, which isn’t too far off from what it is today.

The metaverse comes from the idea based on Web3, a new iteration of the World Wide Web where everything runs on a decentralized blockchain.
