BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager with nearly $10 trillion in AUM, is set to launch a new metaverse ETF to help investors safely monetize in the immersive, booming version of the internet.
BlackRock’s iShares Future Metaverse Tech and Communications ETF will give investors exposure to companies focused on the metaverse, according to Thursday’s filing. This can include companies with links to social networks, virtual platforms, digital assets, games, augmented reality and much more.
The metaverse, which combines technologies such as virtual reality and NFTs, has become a focal point for issuers of exchange-traded products. More recently, 21Shares, the Swiss-based issuer of exchange-traded products, and its US rival ProShares launched their own Metaverse ETFs.
