Binance Charity, the philanthropic arm of the Binance Exchange, has announced its plan to provide more than 30,000 Web3 educational scholarships as part of its Binance Scholar Program.

According to an official blog post on the crypto exchange’s website, Binance Charity revealed that it has processed more than 82,000 applications for the Binance Scholar Program since the launch of the initiative in July 2022.

So far, 67,155 of these applications have been approved for funding, with 36,500 places awarded in 2022, while the remaining 30,655 places will be allocated in 2023.

“The response to our Web3 education projects is unprecedented, and shows the great appetite of many people to learn about blockchain, De-Fi [sic]NFT, encryption and much more,” said Helen Hai, director of the Binance Charity Foundation.

The Binance Academic Program

The Binance Scholar Program serves as a platform that gives interested individuals free access to the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to pursue a career in the web3 space.

From paying tuition and fees for courses at top educational institutions to providing job opportunities to gain experience, the BSP is designed to support its participants at every stage of their Web3 career.

By implementing the BSP, Binance Charity disbursed over $2.2 million (in BUSD) in 2022 to leading educational institutions and organizations in various countries, including Nigeria, Germany, Senegal, Australia, South Africa, France, Cyprus, Ukraine, and Brazil.

One such educational institution is the Nigeria-based Utiva Tech College, which Binance Charity partnered with to fund the Web3 education of 50,000 students while also providing 1,000 scholarship places for a unique intensive training program. of a year designed to help its participants obtain employment in the blockchain industry.

Binance Charity also formed a collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the popular technology community Lviv IT Cluster to help Eastern Ukrainians who lost their jobs due to the ongoing war with Russia. Here, the scholarship program will focus on equipping these individuals with the necessary skills to re-enter the job market.

Other popular educational bodies and organizations participating in the scholarship program include the University of Western Australia, the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (Blockchain Center) in Germany, the network of technology schools based in France Simplon and the Women in Technology Organization.

In other news, the cryptocurrency market remains strong, with many assets including market giants Ethereum and Bitcoin posting impressive profit margins in recent weeks. Binance Coin (BNB), the native token of the Binance exchange, is one such asset, having gained 23.84% since early 2023.

At the time of writing, BNB is trading at $302.30, down 0.57% over the past 24 hours according to data from CoinMarketCap. Its daily trading volume has decreased by 11.02%, resulting in a value of $645.25 million. That being said, BNB is still the fourth largest cryptocurrency in the world, with a market capitalization of $47.72 billion.
