Web3 games are still in their early stages, but they have the potential to revolutionize the way games are created, played, and monetized. Some of the key benefits of Web3 games include:

• Decentralized Ownership – In a Web3 game, players own their in-game assets verifiably and immutably, using a blockchain-based digital wallet. This allows players to trade, sell or transfer their assets outside of the game, creating new economic opportunities and giving players more control over their virtual goods.

• Interoperability: Web3 games can use decentralized protocols to interoperate with other games and platforms, creating new possibilities for cross-game experiences and economies. For example, a player could earn in-game assets in one game and use them to unlock new content or abilities in another game.

• Censorship Resistance: Web3 games are built on decentralized networks that are resistant to censorship and control by a single entity. This allows developers to create new types of games that challenge the status quo or explore controversial or sensitive topics, without fear of being shut down or banned.

• New business models: Web3 games can use blockchain-based payment systems and smart contracts to create new types of monetization models.

In my opinion, the future of blockchain gaming is still uncertain, but it has the potential to lead to significant changes in the way games are created, played, and monetized. As the technology and infrastructure for Web3 gaming continues to mature and gain adoption, we are likely to see more and more innovative projects and experiences emerge in this space.

Why are the Web3 Gaming Awards important?

The Polkastarter GAM3 award winners have already been named, garnering the “Grammys” for web3 games. In a live ceremony on December 15, the 16 winners of the industry’s first awards were announced.

The GAM3 Awards Game of the Year honored the best web3 game that bridged the gap between mainstream and blockchain-based games. A total of 23 web3 gaming content providers were nominated for the Best Content Creator award, with the winner decided on a final day of voting.
