Defining the metaverse is not a simple task. The New York Times has called it “a fully realized digital world that exists beyond the one in which we live.” Wired magazine takes a slightly simpler approach, saying that a good rule of thumb is to upload “metaverse” when you might otherwise use the word “cyberspace.” And Mark Zuckerberg, who changed Facebook to Meta as his company name, suggests that the metaverse may not be a place at all, but rather a point in time.
