Masa users and developers can now create Masa Identity SBTs on Ethereum

SAN FRANCISCO, January 17, 2023–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Masa, the first Soulbound identity protocol to support the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), today announced the launch of its mainnet on the Ethereum network. Mass Soulbound Identity mainnet launch brings a standardized on-chain Soulbound Token protocol and infrastructure to power the web3 economy.

The highly anticipated mainnet launch allows users to mint a variety of Soulbound Tokens, such as a Soulbound Identity Mass SBT, a unique .soul name NFT, and a web3 credit score SBT. A user’s .soul name will serve as the domain name for their identity, and users will be able to exchange their .soul names on OpenSea.

With the mainnet launch, Masa is also empowering developers and projects to build on the protocol, leveraging Masa as the infrastructure to easily coin SBT for a wide variety of use cases. The Masa protocol will be available to Ethereum and Celo developers, expanding to additional blockchains in 2023. Masa-based projects can create SBTs for user authentication, Know Your Customer (KYC), DeFi lending risk-based, proof of stake, DAO and community reputation score, and many more.

Web3 urgently needs a composable, easy-to-use, and privacy-preserving way to manage identity on-chain to connect web3 with real-world data. Soulbound tokens are fast becoming a fundamental identity primitive in web3. Masa’s mainnet launch aims to be the solution, using SBT to function as the intersection between our unique identities, technology, and the way we interact within a decentralized society.

“The next cryptocurrency bull market depends on web3 delivering real-world utility. Masa will help billions of global users build their authentic on-chain identity and leverage their on-chain identity to unlock real-world utility , such as access to a thriving web3 economy and on-chain liquidity, Soulbound tokens are uniquely positioned to serve as a bridge for web2 users into web3, and Masa aspires to be SBT’s common infrastructure layer says Calanthia Mei, co-founder of Masa.

“My vision for Masa is to bring the next billion users to web3 by creating the de facto web3 identity primitive. At Masa, we want to make identity as simple as coining an NFT, for one user, and as simple as deploying an ERC-20 Smart Contract to a developer. After a year of testing and iterating with hundreds of thousands of users and developers, we are shipping the first version of the Masa Soulbound Identity protocol. With the launch of our mainnet, each sovereign individual can create their own Soulbound Identity. Establish and build a decentralized identity that unlocks the full potential of the web3 economy. Mass Soulbound Identity will be the passport of all web3 users to a decentralized society,” says Brendan Playford, co-founder of Dough.

Masa has seen strong interest in testnet launches since August, with nearly 250,000 Masa Soulbound Identities minted, nearly 300,000 Masa .Soul Names minted, 800+ developer signups, and 100,000+ global community members. . The launch of the Masa Soulbound Identity mainnet is the next step in supporting the growth of a soulful Web3 in DeFi, dApps, Airdrops, DAOs and communities, and more.
