An announcement has been made about a partnership between cryptocurrency exchange Huobi and European financial services provider Solaris. The partnership will result in the creation of a debit card that can convert cryptocurrency into fiat currency.

Huobi users now have the ability to make use of their digital assets at points of sale anywhere in the world as a result of a program that Visa has given permission to operate.

As of the second quarter of 2023, users within the European Economic Area (EEA) will be able to access the card. The European Economic Area (EEA) is made up of the 27 nations that are part of the European Union (EU), plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

Citizens of countries that are members of the European Union have access to more than one fiat crypto card at this time. In 2020, cryptocurrency exchange Binance launched its own crypto-fiat card, which received the Visa seal of approval. European users now have the ability to withdraw fiat cash directly from their Binance accounts using this card. Outside the European Union, Visa has been a strong advocate of bridging the gap between digital money and traditional currencies like the dollar and the euro.

In October 2022, Blockchain.com went public with its partnership with Visa to produce a debit card that could be used to purchase cryptocurrency. The use of this card is strictly limited within the limits of the United States of America.

More recently, the financial services provider and a company in the fintech industry called ZELF worked together to offer customers a debit card that protects their anonymity and can be loaded with cryptocurrency.

A feature that would allow customers to automatically pay bills from their bitcoin wallet is another feature Visa has suggested could be rolled out before early 2023.
