Every year, tech professionals from around the world make a pilgrimage to Las Vegas to try out the latest technology and learn about the latest technological innovations impacting the home, automotive, beauty, health, gaming and more. It’s an overwhelmingly fascinating experience that makes most of us feel like kids in a candy store.
Earlier this year, it was fun to see how many times exhibitors included the word Metaverse on their stands. This even led to one XR pro’s Twitter thread going viral after walking through the show citing every mention of the word and the results were overwhelming!
Despite all that technology has endured this year, by 2023, Metaverse and Web3 will have their own dedicated space. This time in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).
On a recent episode of the CES Tech Talk podcast, Kinsey Fabrizio, Senior Vice President of CES Membership and Sales for the Consumer Technology Association, shared what to expect at CES 2023. He said there will be a portion of the show dedicated to gaming, the Metaverse, and Web3. in the Central Hall. She revealed that it’s going to be a really exciting part of the show floor with CoinDesk’s Web3 studio located in Central Hall. The studio will interview influential voices from Web3 and will also cover the latest crypto and blockchain news and trends at the show.
Central Hall, for CES newbies, is what many consider the traditional CES. This is the area of the LVCC where some of the biggest exhibitors usually appear. With Coindesk’s Web3 Studio located in the LVCC Central Hall, it will be a focal point of Web3, Metaverse, and blockchain at CES. CoinDesk will host industry leaders and visionaries as they discuss the most impactful developments that have occurred in industries, technologies, and capabilities. Amongst other seasoned professionals, I’ll be there to talk about my new book launching in mid-January.
Digital Hollywood offers an associated track titled Digital Hollywood: Hollywood Streaming and the Metaverse. The keynote session is titled Web3, XR, Metaverse and the Entertainment Consumer and is the first CES session to address the topic. I’ll be a panelist with colleagues from AMD, Nokia, Microsoft, NPR, Shutterstock and Brett Leonard, the director of the ’90s sci-fi classic Lawnmower Man. This session takes place on January 4 at 9 am in the Aria.
CES 2023 also includes a Metaverse & Gaming track with sessions like Gaming to Lead us into the Metaverse. Fashion and luxury will also be part of the discussion at the Luxury Brands Embracing Innovation: How the Best of the Best are Leaning into AI, Metaverse and Beyond panel on this track.
There is also a Creator Economy & NFTs Talk track. Some of the sessions on this track include Web3: Fad or The Future? and The Changing Metaverse Landscape: Challenges as Opportunities.
There are also a lot of side events, demos, and panels running in parallel with CES.
While the current situation may seem like a “Metaverse winter” to many, it is actually spring. It’s just the beginning of the growth of this new field with AI and XR deserving center stage today as we move into the future of the Metaverse over the next 10 years. Just stop to ask yourself, what would CES 2033 be like?
