Most current “metaverse” experiences are just online games that take advantage of the hype around the term. In the long term, the ambitious vision of the metaverse is a series of decentralized interoperable virtual worlds.

True metaverse experiences will allow users to carry their avatars and items from one to another, control real-world devices, conduct business, socialize, transact using digital ledgers, and generally carry out their daily activities in a virtual world.
