Based on Web3 technology, Road Code is being developed through a partnership between Velon, the company owned by many of the world’s top cycling teams, and The HBAR Foundation. Together, they are…’delivering the first universe of fans in professional cycling, built on the public Hedera network’.
A Velon statement added… “Unlike today’s centralized social media channels, Road Code is the next generation platform, offering ownership to fans through representation of in-game assets, digital collectibles and team access tokens, all stored safely in a personal digital vault.
Content is at the heart of the new Road Code platform, which will be released in a first phase for the start of the 2023 cycling season.
“The teams and riders will provide all-access content to take fans behind the scenes and through the highs and lows of their racing lives and beyond.”
Velon is owned by: BORA-hansgrohe, EF Education-EasyPost, INEOS Grenadiers, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert, Lotto Soudal, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, Team DSM, Team Jumbo-Visma, Trek-Segafredo and UAE Team Emirates.
Velon’s proprietary live data system will be integrated with Road Code, providing new insights into how fast and hard riders are performing in races. The platform will be a new home for the popular bike footage that Velon has pioneered for the past seven years.
Road Code will also contain a new and unique rider ranking system based not on what riders won but who they beat. The new system will aim to open up the sport to fans in new ways, showing them team and rider standings for sprints, climbs, one-day races and Grand Tour. In time, amateur cyclists will be able to make direct comparisons between his performances and those of the elite.
Games will also be a part of the new platform, starting with a full fantasy game with assets that fans can own and trade.
Graham Bartlett, CEO of Velon, said: “Our mission is to create a one-of-a-kind platform that provides access to the most relevant and exciting cycling content for sports fans and lovers around the world.
“Road Code’s mission is to bring the best of the teams to the fans by creating a new community that fans can truly be a part of. We want to invite everyone to participate in building the digital cycling universe of the future.”
Road Code is being developed by game studio Reality+, the developer partner of Web3, and Immortal Projects, a Danish venture studio that is based on the Hedera ecosystem and is supported by the HBAR Foundation.
As the foundation of the new platform, the Hedera network (with its native crypto token HBAR) is dedicated to having a limited carbon footprint and has embraced environmental sustainability as a core value, officially committing to carbon-neutral network operations. negative.
