Web3 gaming DAO, Game7, has launched a $100 million grant program to enable game developers to create the tools needed to make Web3 gaming better and more accessible.

Rolling out over the next five years at $20 million per year, the $100 million grant will be distributed to technology, events, diversity, education and research projects. Game7 believes that the Web3 metaverse and gaming infrastructures should be public, open source, and interoperable, and its milestone-based grants are a critical funding mechanism for the ecosystem.

Game7 Tech Grants will go towards supporting open source projects that drive innovation across the entire blockchain gaming tech stack. Its event grants enable community members around the world to host online and in-person events, such as conferences and workshops focused on driving Web3 gaming into the future.

The education grant supports ongoing programs and unique initiatives that advance knowledge of blockchain engineering and builder game development topics, while the research grants are for initiatives that cover the entire gaming ecosystem, from the governance of the game economy to player incentives and developer revenue streams.

BitDAO and Forte have committed $500 million to Game7’s treasury. Together with BitDAO and Forte, Game7 will make decisions on how funds will be distributed and help define gaming standards.

“Improving smart contract standards, tools, interoperable wallets, and scaling solutions will be crucial on the path to global adoption of Web3 gaming,” Ronen Kirsh, Game7 senior contributor, said in a statement. “We have allocated 20% of our committed treasury to fund each of these crucial components so that the gaming industry can focus on building sustainable gaming economies.”

The cross-chain grant program supports games across the Polygon, Solana, Immutable, and Arbitrum ecosystems, with more blockchains to be added in the coming months. Interested Web3 game developers can apply for the grant program today on the Game7 grant portal.
