“Companies with complex portfolios and dispersed global workforces that need to be highly collaborative benefit the most—think banking, biotech, and pharmaceuticals,” says Lavers. “Educating employees about the possibilities now will prevent culture shock when the time comes for broader adoption of the metaverse.”

Hamley says that companies that have had early success had a specific vision of what they wanted to achieve.

“Is it to improve existing practices or experiment with new employee and customer experiences?” Hamley says. “Once the focus is clear, it’s about understanding whether you have the design talent and capabilities to support these initiatives.”
