The Palm Foundation has launched a new Web3 platform to democratize the Web3 space. Its goal is to support women, LGBTQI+, Latino, Black, Indigenous communities and other underrepresented artists and creators. The non-profit company will offer education, support, opportunities and amplification for artists in these communities. Here’s all you need to know about the Palm Foundation:
What is Palm Foundation?
Palm Foundation is a new Web3 platform that aims to empower historically marginalized artists and creators. With the goal of bringing the next billion people to Web3, it will educate and support creators on the Palm network, an Ethereum-compatible sidechain. Additionally, Palm NFT Studio, HENI, ConsenSys, Heyday Films, Nifty’s, Candy Digital, and Portion all support the platform. In addition, Andrea Lerdo, former Head of Business Architecture at Onyx, will be in charge of the platform.
“I am honored to lead and inspire others to collaborate with us as we incorporate traditionally underrepresented builders, makers and artists,” said Lerdo. “Our first collaborators are what differentiates us from other projects and foundations. Their sustained mission to support diverse creators on web3 is borne out by the selection of a non-binary Latino person as Director of the Palm Foundation.”
What will the platform focus on?
The Palm Foundation has already established a number of priorities to focus on for the foreseeable future. This includes non-English translations of Web3 content, which offers no-code digital tools training and startup mentoring. In addition, grant and scholarship programs, fiat payment processing for the purchase of digital collectibles, and curatorial mentorship for creators are also on the list.
For its first partnership, the Palm Foundation has partnered with ZsONAMACO, the largest art fair in Latin America. During the festival, the platform will showcase the work of your selected artist. However, the artist has yet to be named. The event will take place from February 8 to 12, 2023 in Mexico City. You can learn more about the platform on their website.
