It’s the start of a new month, which means we have the latest statistics on operating systems and browsers. Statcounter recently published its findings, revealing the modest growth of Windows 11 and the stagnation of Microsoft Edge in the desktop browser market. Now we have fresh data from Valve, which also shows that Windows 11 is having a hard time getting more users, even among gamers.

October 2022 marked the second time Windows 11 had lost ground on Steam. According to Valve, Microsoft’s latest operating system dropped from almost 25% to 23.37% (-1.47%). Windows 10, on the other hand, gained 0.42 points, rising to 68.91%.
Windows 7, which is about to face the end of extended support early next year, refuses to leave the gaming market. It owns 3.59%, and the value rose 1.19 points compared to the previous month.
Overall, 96.5% (+0.09) of all Steam users prefer Windows over other operating systems. macOS has 2.23% (-0.13) and Linux 1.28% (+0.05). You can see the dynamics in the following graph:
