EXCLUSIVE: The Bridge, a specialist in UK-Asian co-production financing, has signed an innovative first-look deal with video streaming platform Web3 Myco.
The deal will see The Bridge secure distribution and sales deals and co-production and financing partners from the Southeast Asia region for Myco’s original shows. In return, Myco will get a “first look” at the start-up, acquisition, financing or co-production of content from The Bridge sources in the same region.
In addition, Myco and The Bridge will jointly develop a pipeline of projects sourced from Southeast Asian talent and companies. Myco will fund and allocate, in publishing partnership with The Bridge, a development fund of $100,000 in IP and signed projects on the board. The goal is to deliver 3-5 original productions per year.
Myco bills itself as a Web3 video streaming, financing, production and distribution platform, while The Bridge has built a reputation for building co-productions between Western and Asian film and television companies. Myco Chief Content Officer Phil McKenzie and The Bridge CEO Amanda Groom signed the agreement.
The Bridge deal is a key move for Myco as it begins to foray into the Asian market, which it sees as a key entertainment hub moving forward, particularly given early audience adoption of ‘watch2earn’, new technology and cryptography that has been widely seen in play2earn games in the region.
“Myco’s significant investment in Asian content development reveals the company’s commitment to The Bridge’s role in developing content across Asia and stimulating the two-way flow of content from and to Asia to the international marketplace” said The Bridge’s Groom. . “This investment, combined with The Bridge’s determination, will really have an impact on the show’s sales numbers and further drive creative growth across the Asian region.”
McKenzie said that working with Groom “would help us navigate a key region for myco from both a content and audience perspective,” adding: “We look forward to discovering and empowering Southeast Asian stories and creators through our ecosystem. of web3 content and distribute finished productions using our innovative watch2earn platform”.
