Polygon, a blockchain platform, announced on Friday its strategic partnership with e-commerce giant Flipkart to develop the foundation for the Blockchain-Ecommerce Center of Excellence.
Jeyandran Venugopal, Flipkart’s Director of Product and Technology, said: “Innovation is one of Flipkart’s main pillars and we have been constantly working on technology solutions to scale new frontiers and introduce new products and services. We are delighted to partner with Polygon, a company that is at the forefront of blockchain innovation, nationally and internationally.”
The year has been a fruitful one for the Walmart-owned company as, in October 2022, it announced its partnership with eDAO, a decentralized autonomous media and entertainment organization, to provide its customers with a virtual shopping experience called Flipverse. Brands like Puma, Noise, VIP, Nivea and Himalaya have installed their experience theaters on the platform. eDAO was incubated under Polygon.
Additionally, it launched FireDrops, an easy-to-use NFT platform for users to discover and experience the web3 element.
The race for first-mover advantage in e-commerce has pitted Amazon and Flipkart against each other. For the 2022 holiday season, Amazon devised an #AmazonMetaWorld physical IP to provide a gamified experience to its users in five cities.
Earlier this week, Phantom, a Solana-focused wallet, announced its move to develop a Polygon wallet. In October, the company announced the Polygon zkEVM Public Testnet, a zero-knowledge rollup package.
