Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has partnered with Web3 entertainment company, Defient.

Defient describes itself as a Web3 entertainment company and NFT incubator that develops products through industry-leading technology, community, NFT launches, and partnerships.

Warner Music Group’s music publishing division says its first project as part of the partnership will be the launch of ‘Archives,’ which according to a press release will serve as a blockchain-powered, multi-dimensional digital museum.

With the latest partnership, WCM says its songwriters and producers will be able to “unlock more value” by participating in the web3 space and leveraging blockchain technology, WCM claims in a press release issued on Wednesday (Nov 30).

The archives will focus exclusively on highlighting the art and stories of the songs through a curated selection of digital collectibles, memorabilia, events and more.

The Archives will feature a gallery, exhibits (with rotating one-on-one exclusive digital collectibles), and ‘spotlights’ with curated custom collections featuring composers and WCM estates.

The digital museum will launch in early 2023 with an ‘Archives Mint Pass’, featuring a collection of 2,000 NFTs, each granting the holder access to participate in highly curated songwriter-list releases, auctions and virtual experiences. of WCM.

The partnership follows Warner Music Group’s recent collaboration with the peer-to-peer marketplace for NFTs, OpenSea, which provides a platform for select WMG artists to build and grow their fan communities on Web3.
