Fujitsu today announced a strategic agreement with blockchain startup SettleMint to work with Fujitsu Enterprise Blockchain and Track and Trust Solutions. Fujitsu established a Trust and Track Solutions Center in Brussels, Belgium in 2018, and SettleMint is headquartered outside of Brussels. Last month, Fujitsu Ventures participated in SettleMint’s $16 million Series A financing.

The two firms have worked together before. Two years ago, we reported on a barley traceability solution from brewing company AB InBev, which owns Budweiser and Stella Artois. SettleMint developed the solution with Fujitsu as a consulting partner.

The collaboration agreement means that Fujitsu will provide professional services to other SettleMint clients. This adds credibility to SettleMint and means you can get involved in bigger and bigger projects.

In addition, Fujitsu will use SettleMint’s low-code blockchain middleware that supports enterprise blockchains such as Hyperledger Besu and Fabric, as well as Ethereum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, and Polygon public blockchains.

“The rapid way to build, launch, integrate and monitor blockchain implementations with SettleMint’s high-performance, low-code development environment fits our portfolio strategy in the blockchain enterprise space,” said Frederik De Breuck, director of Fujitsu Track & Trust. Division.

Fujitsu developed a significant part of the code that underpins the Hyperledger Cacti interoperability solution.

In addition to engaging in various traceability solutions, ranging from rice to recycled carbon fiber, Fujitsu’s distributed ledger (DLT) solutions include digital identity and intelligent document management.
