Mark Zuckerberg’s foray into the metaverse, embodied in the name change of his social media giant Meta (NASDAQ: META), hasn’t panned out and the company recently laid off 11,000 employees. This has done little to discourage Apple, and as new job postings reveal, the company is delving into augmented and virtual realities, but don’t expect the iPhone maker to call it a “metaverse.”

It has been reported that Apple is working on an augmented reality headset for more than five years. To date, nothing has come out of the reports. However, new job postings from the tech giant this month hint at the company ramping up its 3D mixed reality efforts, including a foray into the metaverse.
