Visa recently made headlines with its applications for two US patents related to digital wallets, non-fungible tokens, and the metaverse.

While it may surprise some, it’s not uncommon for payment giants to file patent applications in these realms. American Express has recently made a similar move.

Emmanuel Daniel, founder of The Asian Banker, explained why Visa made the move and what challenges the company faces in the future.
